Denver adds forward to incoming class

janssen DU picDenver coach Jim Montgomery signed 6-foot-4 forward Evan Janssen (Green Bay) for this upcoming season.

“Evan is an outstanding student-athlete who will be a great teammate on and off the ice,” Montgomery said.  “He knows how to help his team win and is willing to fill any role in order for his team to have success.”

The 20-year old registered 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists) along with a plus-nine rating while leading Dubuque, coached by Montgomery, to the best regular-season record in the U.S. Hockey League (USHL) as well as both the Anderson and Clark Cups. Janssen recorded six points (4 goals) and a plus-five rating in 11 playoff games.

Janssen joins Will Butcher (Sun Prarie, Wis.), Brad Hawkinson (Aurora), Trevor Moore (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) and Matt van Voorhis (Edina, Minn.) as the confirmed members of the Pioneers’ 2013-14 incoming class.
