Schwartz shares WCHA weekly offensive honor

Colorado College center Rylan Schwartz and North Dakota forward Danny Kristo were named as WCHA co-Offensive Players of the Week for Feb. 27.

Kristo, a 5-11, 185-pound senior right winger from Eden Prairie, Minn., had a goal and an assist in each of North Dakota’s two games at Denver.

Schwartz, a 5-10, 196-pound senior from Wilcox, Sask., led the Tigers with a five-point series against league-leading St. Cloud State last weekend. He had a goal and two assists in last Friday’s 4-3 victory, including one on the game-winner. He scored both CC goals in Saturday’s 5-2 loss.

Schwartz has 146 points (93 assists) in 146 games as a Tiger. He is fifth in scoring overall among WCHA players with 40 points (14g, 26a).

St. Cloud State sophomore defenseman Andrew Prochno, who produced five points at CC last weekend, is the Defensive Player of the Week.

CC junior defenseman Eamonn McDermott also was nominated.

Huskies freshman forward Jonny Brodzinski, who recorded three goals and four points at CC last weekend, is the league Rookie of the Week. His 17 goals leads all Division I rookies.
