Some of McGill’s more famous alums

Here’s some famous McGill graduates I stumbled across while looking up info on the Redmen. A more-detailed preview on the school’s role in developing hockey will appear in Saturday morning’s Gazette

There are four Nobel prize winners that are McGill grads, though the school did not name them.

I did see Leonard Cohen at Red Rocks a couple summers ago and it was a great show.

But I think it’s pretty apparent who my favorite McGill grad is.

Here are some notables:

Mike Babcock, Detroit Red Wings coach

Leonard Cohen, singer/songwriter

James Naismith, developed basketball

Dick Pound, former president World Anti-Doping Agency

William Shatner, actor

Why, I’m surprised at you, Joe! However could you have missed James Creighton, the ‘Father of North American Ice Hockey?’ He took a law degree from McGill back in 1880.

He’s mentioned in the article that will appear Saturday morning. The list goes with that article and i forgot to add him for the blog.

I should’ve guessed your eagle eye wouldn’t miss that little tidbit.
