Lucia’s son eyeing CC?

Mario Lucia, son of Minnesota coach Don Lucia, is said to be considering Notre Dame and Colorado College according to this NHL draft preview.

He is rated as the seventh best and top college-eligible left wing available. Here’s the writeup and a link to the full story:

7. Mario Lucia, Wayzata (HIGH-MN): The son of University of Minnesota men’s head coach Don Lucia offers an incredible release, smarts and knack for putting the puck in the net. The 6-foot-2, 183-pounder is able to protect the puck and, according to Wayzata coach Carl Davis, is a major threat out of the corners. He’s expected to be the first scholastic player drafted and will likely join the Sioux Falls Stampede in the United States Hockey League next season. He’s yet to decide which college he’ll attend, although Notre Dame and Colorado College appear to be the frontrunners.

“When Mario Lucia has the puck on his stick, he makes everyone else better,” Central Scouting’s Jack Barzee told NHL.com. “When he’s got the puck inside the blue line, he’s a threat to score or set up a picturesque play … he’s that dangerous.”

His Dad made CC a Hockey Power again. I hope Mario comes to Colorado Springs and helps the Tigers win a National Championship!
Plus its much nicer and warmer in Colorado Springs than South Bend.

  2. And we have better looking women as well!! Just saying.

Still lots of work to be done to get rid of the “Choke City” moniker…too many seasons of losing the big games at the end.

Why not recruit more Colorado kids…after all, it is “Colorado” College. Zero Colorado kids on the roster is a joke.

CC recruits the BEST players whether from Colorado, Minnesota, Canada or Europe. It’s a National College and a National Hockey Program. No State/Tax funds going to CC.

Richard Bachman, Brandon Straub and Mike Testuide all recent Tigers were from Colorado.

We’ll see who chokes this season ; )

And winning WCHA Championships, making NCAA Championships, beating DU, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and dominating Air Force over last 20 years is not really “choking”.
