Rau getting past illness

Center Chad Rau, the nation’s leading scorer on Dec. 20, has one assist and no goals in CC’s last six games. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Rau is just getting over a virus that was first feared to be mononucleosis. Two weeks ago Rau was held back as the rest of the team flew to Wisconsin for a weekend series to undergo tests for mono, then joined the team the day of the series opener. Although he didn’t have mono, he has still been playing while he was sick.

I’m writing a story that will appear in the Gazette soon on Rau’s recent struggles and what he thinks of the rest of the season. To his credit he didn’t use the illness as an excuse, he simply answered questions that were presented to him about it. The fact that he didn’t want to dwell on his illness probably says something about the senior’s character.

  1. Look forward to reading your article. Sure seems something somewhere is wrong with this team. Hard to believe everything is ok with the players and coaches with the results so far this season. I don’t have a good feeling about this, and I am almost always optimistic.

I hope today’s article on the differences from last year started to explain some things. The team is obviously disappointed so far but hopes there are good things in store. They need to get healthy, for sure.
