A Catholic school in Fairfield, Conn., with a 3,400-student enrollment, Sacred Heart never has played Colorado College. Like Alabama-Huntsville and Colgate, it will receive a five-figure cash guarantee for traveling to Colorado Springs.
The Pioneers compete in the Atlantic Hockey Association, the same conference as Air Force. They were outscored 23-6 in four losses to No. 12 Air Force and 10-0 in two losses to No. 1 Notre Dame. They’re coming off a 3-2 win over Holy Cross and a 5-3 victory against Connecticut.
Defense has been a problem, as Sacred Heart is giving up 4.07 goals per game, the second-worst mark among 58 Division I teams. Sacred Heart ranks 56th on the penalty kill at 75.6 percent.
Thank you for the update Brian!
