Colorado College alum Marty Sertich, who was awarded the Hobey Baker Award in 2005, was acquired by the Colorado Avalanche from the Dallas Stars today.

Sertich signed a free agent contract with the Stars in June 2006 and spent the past two seasons with the Iowa Stars, the Stars’ former AHL affiliate, leading the team in scoring in the 2007-08 season with 27 goals and 25 assists in 79 games

“Marty is a skilled offensive player who will provide depth at the center position,” Avalanche assistant general manager Greg Sherman said in a release.

  1. Good news for a former Tiger – any thoughts if he has a chance to make the Avs roster. If the Avs are going to stink (not real excited about the Granato hire) they will be at leas be easier to watch if a Tiger is there.

I think if Sakic doesn’t come back, I think he has a shot, but I do not purport myself to be an Avalanche expert. I’ll be paying attention, though.
