Suzi Bach, a registered Republican and wife of Republican Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach, is throwing her support behind Democratic candidate Jariah Walker for El Paso County Commissioner in District 5.
“I’ve known Jariah and his family for more than 25 years,” Bach said in a prepared statement released Thursday by the Walker campaign. “I am impressed by Jariah’s commitment to building a better community. His professionalism, enthusiasm and integrity define him as both a business and nonprofit leader.”
Campaign finance reports, to be filed with the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder Friday, are expected to show that Bach donated $250 to Walker’s campaign.
Bach apparently changed her mind. She donated $250 to incumbent Peggy Littleton in October 2013. That was before Walker was in the race, his campaign manager Chet Hardin said.
Walker, a Colorado Springs realtor, is among two challengers. Thomas Austin, a Republican, also is in the race.
Littleton was elected to Board of County Commissioners in November 2010 and took office in January 2011. Prior to being elected, the former teacher served on the State Board of Education for seven years.
