2014 Pulitzer Prize Winner

Kevin Bacon has left the building

Sorry, friends. Kevin Bacon is gone.

Yesterday, he allegedly posted a photo of the Manitou Incline on his Facebook page,  talking about how scared he was of it. That must have been an old photo, because all of my sources indicated he was long gone from our fair city.

I emailed one of the producers of “Cop Car,” the movie he was here shooting, and she said Bacon left town June 18 to go on tour with his band, The Bacon Brothers, which includes his brother, Michael. And according to their website, they have a tour stop on Saturday at the Frontier Days Festival in Illinois.

“Busy man,” she wrote.

She also wrote: “I know he enjoyed your incline a couple times.”

And yes, readers, I begged and implored this producer to help me set up a time to meet Bacon and get a selfie. I emailed, I called, I even sent the original video and asked her to watch it. Nada.

So. Looks like Bacon Watch 2014 is over. Who’ll be next? Something tells me it won’t be long before some other celebrity is walking our downtown streets, eating 5-star meals at our Broadmoor and trudging up our crazy outdoor staircases.
