The need is growing and supporters of The Home Front Cares answered the call, raising more than $220,000 for emergency grants to military, vets and military families. It’s a record for the nonprofit’s annual “For the Love of Our Troops” dinners, the latest on Oct. 17.
Some troops need a little bit of help stopping their homes from being foreclosed or their utilities being shut off. For one military spouse whose husband was deployed, it was being rescued when she was stranded with her kids on Powers Boulevard after the family vehicle fell apart. Little needs or big needs are met. If there’s enough money! The $220,000 helped a lot, but there’s always a need.
