Two more Air Force games will be televised in the 2014 season, and neither will require a time change away from early Saturday afternoon.
The home games against New Mexico at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 18 and Nevada at noon on Nov. 15 will be shown on Root Sports, part of the Mountain West’s eight-game package with the network that was announced on Thursday.
Air Force still has four games that have not been picked up by a network. The Mountain West’s in-house digital network will be next to claim games — though that network is unlikely to ask a team to change prefered times and dates (the Falcons will ask to play home games at noon on Saturdays).
Last season many Falcons fans grumbled about a schedule that included two Thursday night games and a Saturday night starts among the seven home games. The evening starts, particularly late in the year, led to brutally cold conditions. This year the latest Saturday home start will be a 5 p.m. game against Boise State on Sept. 27. The only non-Saturday home game is a 1:30 p.m. start against Colorado State on the Friday after Thanksgiving, which will feel like a weekend anyway (though without the cadet wing in attendance).
