Air Force suffered one of the worst losses in recent program history last week in a 38-35 loss to UNLV.
The Falcons rebounded with an impressive, dominating 42-21 win over CSU, collecting 24 first downs and 459 rushing yards. CSU was never really in the game. Air Force jumped to 21-0, 28-7 and 35-14 leads.

Offense was definitely potent, but fumbles were definitely a problem. Against a less than average defense (CSU), that doesn’t bode well. Defense continues to underperform, although better in the 2nd half than the 1st. Again, against a team still struggling to find an identity (which I think they eventually will), the defense absolutely has to play better. At the end of the day, though, a win’s a win. Hoping for a much better performance on both sides of the ball next week versus Navy.
Nice effort—the kids played hard both sides of the ball. Inexperience really evident on the the defense but they will get better the more they play.
Fumbles OBVIOUSLY have to be reduced to zero for next week’s game with Navy as they are going to come loaded for bear after last year’s loss.
Do you think Getz can get an invite to the Heisman Finals? He’s on pace to rush for >2000 yards in the regular season. If he can break that milestone, I think he’s there.
The Mountain West, Navy and Army are TERRIBLE this year. I know we lost to UNLV, but I see a lot of wins upcoming. Not that were great, but we’re much better than the pitiful.
Air Force is getting better. They replaced a lot of starters from last year.
They rarely play anyone that they can beat without grinding. This is a big game this week with the Naval Academy. This could and would be a big win for us. GO AF!
Far too many unforced offensive errors in the second half. Really, it looked like people relaxed, something that absolutely can’t happen if we expect to beat Navy and Army, and anyone else. We blew up two excellent scoring chances with turnovers, and then got two back-to-back false start penalties to kill another drive. Our defense can’t stop people consistently–the offense must score when it has the ball.
That said–the defense made some adjustments that caused two interceptions, and generally slowed down the CSU passing game a little in the second half. The offense looked absolutely brilliant at times. For every negative (and there were several), there were two positives here. Finally–would someone explain why we were calling timeouts at the end of the game? And did everyone see the falcon-to-falcon aerial combat at halftime? That was a first for me.
We played much better than the previous week and got a W.
Great response to the UNLV loss! I hope this very young team continues to improve each week. Stay healthy Falcons!
The UNLV loss was a fluke. We might lose to Nevada, San Diego State and Fresno State, but no way are losing to anyone else. Thank goodness we don’t play Boise State. CIC Trophy and Bowl Game on the horizon!
The MWC, Army and Navy all seem less than good this year. Unlikely Army and Navy will be bowling this season unless they at least beat AFA.
We have bested two terrible squads. I agree with Bluefan on wins but Navy will be going crazy here next weekend. AFA needs to get up early and pound the Middies down. Navy is 36th in Rushing. AFA #2 in 4 games, and GaTech with five games is first. Army is 6th. Nevada is 3rd with 5 games.
Army should be harder, at West Point, with its ground game.
Fresno State seems pretty good as does Nevada and SDSU, with only UNR at AFA.
One game at a time.
SINK NAVY. Navy recruits against Ga. Tech and loses. New Navy coach by 2015!
Fred in Red,
Actually according to Monday’s Denver Post, Air Force does indeed lead the nation in rushing yards per game.
1. Air Force
2. Army
3. Georgia Tech
4. Nevada
5.Nebraska
Cody Getz is 2nd in the nation in rushing yards.
I saw Dewitt on the sidelines in street clothes. Assuming he is injured, do you have any details?
