Guard Todd Fletcher injured his foot late in Air Force’s loss against TCU on Wednesday and may not be able to play Saturday against UNLV.
Air Force coach Jeff Reynolds said Fletcher didn’t practice today, he isn’t planning on having Fletcher do anything Friday, and will be a “game-time decision” for Saturday’s game against UNLV. Air Force doesn’t think Fletcher broke any bones in his foot, so the Falcons are initially calling the injury a sprained foot. Fletcher was in a walking boot today, Reynolds said.
“They say he’s pretty sore,” Reynolds said.
Fletcher suffered the injury with about six minutes left in Wednesday’s game.
“He played on it, but he was hobbling,” Reynolds said.
If Fletcher can’t play, freshman Chris Carter would start, Reynolds said. Shawn Hempsey would probably get more time off the bench.
Fletcher averages a team-high 30.5 points per game, averages 9.7 points and has a team-best 56 assists.

Well, this is what happens when a Head Coach plays his horse until he literally drops dead. Don’t let the fact that JR rode Lyons for extensive minutes since he has come back from his injury. I’m sorry for you Todd, because you play this game like its meant…with skill, heart and modesty. Your Head Coach plays it with his head up his proverbial darkness!
Not sure why Hempsey would not move into the starting line up. Much more savvy player then any of the freshmen who in at least in the home games have muffed the ball and done little to help out in most of their minutes. Reynolds d/n seem to want to use his seniors. This season may rapidly be going down the drain. TCU is awful and we lost to them — thought we were supposed to be on the rise.
FPc…respectfully….get a grip. Hurting your foot in a game (and Todd had been in and out of this game several times already) has Nothing to do with the coach or playing time…it was an accident to his foot in the game. Geesssh…I sometimes wonder where folks come up with this stuff!!!!
Yeah, I don’t think anything Reynolds did caused Fletcher to hurt his foot. Injuries happen.
I was a little surprised they’d go Carter over Hempsey, but, Carter is a very talented player. Guess you live with the mistakes for the plays he can give you. All that said, I don’t think Fletcher is ruled out or anything, really sounded about 50-50 when I talked to Reynolds yesterday.
Wow, Rjp…why don’t I just come to you before I post a viewpoint? This way you can put your 2 cents in and edit everyones posts. You see Todd and Lyons playing nearly 40 minutes every game and you state…”playing time has nothing to do with injuries”, your words not mine!
I just figured you out, you obviously have superior prophet lije abilities…I cannot compete with your mastery of this game. Let ne know when I can post again…I am off now to go get a grip. Seeibg as I have been unable observe previously your fan club status to Your Pal, JR. Better known as yourself in guise…you said platibg time gas nothing to do with injuries. I am writing down your words of wisdom. Irs classic!
Before you critique my spelling errors to oh valuable one…forgive my droid fingers and screen…they don’t make keyboards for fingers my size. I beg your forgiveness!
