Great game. Great statement by Air Force’s Falcons. Maybe the teams will meet again in the NCAA Tournament. That would be a hockey fan’s dream.
Serving Colorado Springs & the Pikes Peak region since 1872

How could this happen??? I thought CC hockey players were the best athletes in town??? They lost to a vastly inferior Service Academy team???
Any mention of hockey and the loudmouth CC fans are usually all over this blog posting their nonsense. Wonder where they are today???
Upsets do happen twice every 30 years.
How did CC Basketball beat Air Force.
Enjoy the win while you can.
I’ll take 28-2 and still have the best hockey team in town. One day doesn’t change that.
Enjoy your games against Bentley, Canisius, Robert Morris, Sacred Heart and Niagara at crappy Cadet Ice Arena. Enjoy
Wow…after suffering through comments from the overly obnoxious CC fans about lousy Air Force hockey, lousy food and no booze at the Cadet Ice Arena, and no AF fan support, and this is all “Tiger” can come up with? “Well, we’re still superior, blah, blah, blah.” You mean the sun didn’t get in your eyes, or the dog didn’t eat your homework, or the current favorite “It’s George Bush’s fault”? I hope all that booze at World Arena helped you drown your sorrows, man, cause you sure don’t lose with any grace or sportsmanship. But then, if I attended some po-dunk school like CC I would probably try to feel as smug as possible, too. Tiger, I hear Colorado might be getting an In-N-Out Burger, maybe you can take that diploma and get a job flipping burgers there. Enjoy!
At least CC grads don’t drop bombs on babies.
Ha Ha! Chris, good one! You must be a hold over hippie from the ’60s. You guys just crack me up! Do you go around spitting on military people, too?
Yeah, the next time I get an oil change on my car, it will probably be from a CC grad…no wait, that would be way too technical for a CC grad…those “theory of music” degrees go only so far.
Come on Falconman, what is your problem? Geez, 2 wins in 30 years and AF is suddenly superior. You have no clue about CC.
There are more Army servicemen and retirees that support CC Hockey than AF. If you went to a CC Hockey game you would know they are very pro-military. Heck Army ROTC is even a sponsor of CC Hockey.
Here’s another fact, the majority of CC Hockey fans are not even CC grads. Whereas the only AF Hockey fans are AF people or those that make there money from the AF. CC Hockey is much more of a “Colorado Springs” team than AF ever will be.
And the majority of CC grads are business owners, lawyers, doctors or politicians. Many do work to “better the world”, but is that a bad thing? Come on Falconman, enjoy your AF hockey games against Sacred Heart, Holy Cross, Bentley, American International, Canisius, Niagara, Mercyhurst, RIT – wow can’t wait for those barn burners. And how bout Toledo beating you in football, was that Toledo High School? Wins over New Mexico, UNLV, South Dakota, Tennessee State and of course Army and Navy – LOL I hope your air and space expertise is better than your athletic teams. We didn’t even get into Baseball, Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, last place, last place and last place in lowly Mountain West.
One win doesn’t make Air Force a national power. A shocking win last night, but CC is the only team that can win a national championship.
Whatever, I know one thing. AF 2 CC 1. Falcon wins. Focus on that
I don’t have any issue with CC. Looks like a cool place to go to school if you want that kind of experience. Wasn’t what I was looking for.
My problem is with the CC fans that just can’t admit that Air Force has a solid hockey program these days. Making the tournament 4 out of 5 years is pretty impressive no matter what conference you’re in. With only 16 teams in the NCAAs, hockey has been the most successful sport at USAFA the past 5 years. No one else is winning conference championships.
I won’t pretend that CC isn’t elite or dog their accomplishments. They’ve earned them. Buy why in the world do the CC fans have to belittle Air Force all the time? There are two dang good hockey schools in the Springs.
Dave, USAFA ’09
Ok, now the truth comes out…truth be told, I respect CC hockey for what they accomplish, and I also respect CC as an excellent school…what this was all about was returning what CC fans have done over the years, and that is degrade anything and everything involved with USAFA…you guys started all this back in the spring by “disrespecting” AF hockey, and I quote: “lousy hockey, lousy arena, lousy food, lousy fans, etc, etc,” Totally unprovoked, these comments posted on a blog about AF hockey that YOU guys couldn’t resist jumping into with your “holier than thou” attitude. What I’m trying to show you is, that is a pretty insulting thing to hear, and when it’s thrown back in your face, it’s ugly, isn’t it? and it pisses you off, right? With CC being a national power in hockey, I expected to hear some sportsmanship, some grace in defeat, some conession that on one night in December 2011, AF hockey got the better of you…instead, it’s the same old cocky attitude, same old obnoxious comments from “Tiger,” comments about AF football that are absolutely unrelated to the topic at hand, no “congrats on your win, we’ll see you next year!” Tiger fans, that’s what sportsmanship is all about. Time to show the sporting world that your entire life does not revolve around CC hockey (and only CC hockey) and that you can see that others can also accomplish big things….and yes, I fully admit, it IS a big thing for AF to beat CC, just as it’s a big thing for CC to beat AF in bball.
I’ve said enough (is that clapping & cheering I hear?), time to move on, so I say to all, “Happy New Year.”
Not to be a jerk, but the issue is Ramsey saying Air Force is a “national power” because they beat CC on one night. Congrats to AF, I was very disappointed CC lost, but to put AF on same level as CC is bad reporting. It was simply one win, very similar to Iowa State beating Oklahoma State in football.
I see that reading comprehesion is falling by the wayside, along with logical thinking, at yet another private, liberal arts college. Ramsey didn’t say that one game does it (although it makes a nice theme)–he’s basing his opinion on the record AF has established over the last five years or so. And that includes playing and sometimes defeating CC. CC fans should take a cue from the Tigers’ coach–be gracious in both victory and defeat. That might be easier said than done, since he apparently doesn’t suffer from an inferiority complex.
AF may not be a “national power”, but neither is CC. When you go 50+ years without winning a national championship, you’re not a national power . . . you’re actually more than half way to being the Cubs.
I love the CC fan’s delusions of grandeur . . . laugh-out-loud funny! You guys do realize that when you mention “CC” outside a 100 mile radius of the Springs, people just assume you’re talking about Central Connecticut, right?
