First look at football schedule poster

GoAirForceFalcons.com put this on its Facebook page (they’re calling it an early draft), so I figured I’d share it, too:

First of all, it’s a pretty cool poster – nice work by those involved. What strikes me a bit about it is how quarterback Tim Jefferson is front and center. In 2010 no player was featured prominently, and in 2009 “I AM TEAM” was the motto. This year there’s no mistaking the leader of this group (and I’m not saying Air Force set out to put Jefferson front and center in the photo, that just naturally happens with a senior quarterback I’d think, my point is that those involved with the making of the poster didn’t necessarily resist it either). I think not ignoring the obvious, that Jefferson is the headliner of the team, is fine because of Jefferson himself. He’s humble and far from a self promoter. The Falcons rarely, if ever, promote an individual player, but I thought there was a bit of a shift in praising Jefferson in the postgame press conference at the Independence Bowl (I’ll write more on this topic sometime before the season). Remember, last year Air Force coach Troy Calhoun wouldn’t even come out and say Tim Jefferson was clearly his starter all through training camp, even though that was never in doubt.

Besides, having Jefferson out front makes the poster a bit more aesthetically pleasing, don’t you think?

The poster is really nice…far better than last years and as a Herk pilot I am especially happy with it. TJ is the leader of the team so I see no problem with having him in the front.

I love the C-130, Pikes Peak and “Your Home Town Team”.

I don’t like putting a pack of players on a poster looking like they are ready to kick my ass. That seems to be the look of every college football promotional poster. Some marketing exec knows more than I.

I’d put game action photos/pictures on the poster, with Parachutists, Falcons, Fighter Jets, Drum and Bugle..stuff that makes an AFA game a big spectacle you would take your family too.

by far their best poster ever! i can remember back to the eighties when they had “feel the thunder” bumper stickers and Chad Hennings book covers on kid’s day. Love that they chose the C-130, it is to the air force what the fullback is to the offense. Not the biggest, the fastest, or most pretty plane in the inventory, but the workhorse and backbone that gets the job done.
