This is a pretty fun story from Airman Magazine Online, via the Air Force’s Facebook page – former Air Force cheerleader Sheriden Martinez has spent fall weekends away from her job as the 11th Comptroller Squadron finance officer as a cheerleader for the NFL’s Washington Redskins.
I’d guess that not too many NFL cheerleaders are also military officers.
As the story says, 1st Lt. Martinez didn’t plan on being a NFL cheerleader, but she was living in the area, wanted to do something with her free time, and then competed against about “300 to 400 girls” for a spot on the team. She doesn’t know if her service duties will keep her from cheering this season, which would be her third with the Redskins. It’s a good story, definitely worth the read.
