Have you ever said anything positive about the Air Force football program??????

Mike – You must be kidding, but I’ll go ahead and address the question.
I’ve written dozens and dozens and dozens of positive columns and blog posts over the past eight seasons about Air Force football.
About Chad Hall, about Troy Calhoun, about Jared Tew, about Fisher DeBerry, about Carson Bird, about the near-win over Oklahoma, about the bowl win over Houston, about Jon Davis, about the 2007 win over TCU, about Jim Ollis, about Kevin Fogler, about Ben Garland ….
I could go on and on. All were extremely positive. Guess you somehow managed to miss all of them.
One other thing:
Being realistic is not the same as being negative.
Let me say that again in case anyone misses it:
Being realistic is not the same as being negative.
And thanks for asking your question.

What’s more, I really don’t think there’s anything negative about that post. Just talking football.
I will say though, Ramsey – Calhoun would be thrilled to check off at the line and go 11 on 10 on 4th and 7. They’d get it too. And that would be the last we’d see of Shaky Smithson on PRs on Saturday. The whole Jefferson-as-punter thing, really, is rather brilliant (except when you pass up two 4th and 1s to have him punt).

I have been with the The Gazette since 2006 and began covering Air Force athletics in the fall of 2012. While with The Gazette I've jumped from layout & design to covering the Sky Sox to spending several years overseeing our high school sports coverage. I've written for newspapers at the University of Kansas, St. Joseph, Mo., and Maui. (By the way, one of those things is not like the other) At home, my wife, Jennifer, and I have three young daughters, ranging in age from 3 1/2 to 8 months. As you might imagine, sleep is scarce, so please forgive a typo or two. Follow me on twitter @BrentBriggeman
