The Air Force men’s basketball team just played one of the best halves it has played all season and went to the locker room with a 32-21 halftime lead.
Air Force shot the ball well (13-of-26 from the floor, including 4-of-12 from 3-point range), played inspired defense and – perhaps most noteworthy – was energized and excited. The bench was into it, the Falcons were diving on the floor for loose balls and players were taking the ball to the hole with authority.
Question is – can they sustain the effort in the second half?
Not sure if Wyoming will play as poorly. The Cowboys had seven turnovers and missed 7-of-13 free throws.
Great to see the guys shooting the ball so well. Dermody went from killing us last week to not even being able to catch the ball today…that really helps!
Interesting to see that UW has no sense of urgency – especially this Desmar Jackson – he’s so interested in looking smooth that they waste a lot of time.
Our guys are doing a very good job being aggressive on the offensive end and actually making free throws. Great job!

Jake, did Reynolds direct the rather snarky comment about picking on Michael Lyons in newspaper articles at you? Heard it during the postgame show. What was up with that?

Yeah, that was me! Although since Jeff always takes such great joy in telling me that he never reads the newspaper, I’m not sure how he knew that.
I guess if he had his way I would have overlooked the fact that in the only game Air Force won in conference Lyons had 16 points. And that he’d made just 1-of-19 3s in the previous five games.
But that’s fine. I’m used to hearing snarky comments and insults from coaches I cover. Part of the job, I guess.
