So Jake, last year you kept voting OU, which lost to Texas by 10, ahead of Texas. You’ve been voting Texas ahead of TCU until this ballot. TCU didn’t play, and Texas did what they had to do and won the conference championship. Can you be honest and just admit some bias? My question is, “Is there any situation in which you would vote Texas #1?” If there is, I imagine it would hurt you deeply to do so. By the way, I’m a native Californian who went to Long Beach State.
Actually, JJ, you’re absolutely wrong. Last year I moved Texas above Oklahoma after the Longhorns defeated OU and kept them above OU the rest of the season — even before the BCS title game when the BCS had Florida and Texas Nos. 1 and 2 (I took the trouble to do the research so you didn’t have to — see below).
I will vote Texas No. 1 if it beats Alabama. No question. It won’t hurt me at all. I thought Texas got screwed last year.

Jake…why do you suppose MWC coaches continue to vote Texas ahead of TCU…? Do you think Coach Calhoun realistically considers Texas a better team than TCU right now?

I’d say he does. I think his ballot has no ulterior motives. If he had any bias, it would be to put MWC teams higher than they deserve. And he hasn’t done that.
