Ever wonder what an Air Force basketball dream team would look like? If you took all the players in program history and selected a team of 15, including a starting five?
So did we. And that’s why, in tomorrow’s edition of The Gazette, you’ll find our All-Time Air Force Team.
I’m sure it will spark plenty of debate. Please visit Gazette.com tomorrow, take a look at the team and post your comments/thoughts/gripes in the section below the article.
Can’t wait to see what people think.

I don’t imagine Henke, Holland or Johnson will rank in the first or even second team…but they are certainly a more talanted trio than most AFA classes have produced. I find it hard to believe these 3 will lead AFA to its worst EVER conference record.
Tough to argue with those 5. Some of the others have better stats than Burtschi, but he was the heart and soul of the best teams in AFA history. You put a Jake Burtschi on this year’s team, and he somehow wills them to at least a break even MWC record.
Still, the best, talent-wise, was Raymond Dudley. Everyone in the house knew he was option A, B, and C on the offensive side of the floor, yet his ability to create his own shot with two of the other tearm’s best defenders draped all over him was incredible.
Looks pretty good. Burtschi can be argued. I don’t think he should be the starter, but there really was no other forwards I guess. He was a leader, sure, but also a big-time glory hog.
Have to believe Dan Nawaelele deserved atleast a top 15 nod. I’ll never forget the pull up jumper he drilled to beat SDSU in 06-07. Timmy A. was a great player but I don’t remember him making a ton of big time shots… maybe that shot against CSU his junior year to put the game away.
Its really tough to compare players from different era’s, I’d like to see tempo adjusted stats (like Pomeroy’s). McCraw and Nawalele would stack up alot better, and some of the greats of the past may be only good.
We followed the team when Jake Burtschi came on the scene and we loved him. He made AF basketball fun to watch and he and his teammates filled Clune Arena and made watching pure joy. He was a must for the dream team. Glory hog I don’t think so. Pure competitor you bet.
The top pics seem reliable enough, however Jacob Burtschi was clearly a clouded choice! Taking a look at stats on the Reserve team, Antoine Hood was clearly overlooked, having been eighth in career scoring and past stats tells us that he led the team to victory along with Nick Welch and changed the teams reputation! Not to mention he was the only Academy grad to have any shot with an NBA team! I think Dave Ramsey had a little dirt in his eye when he chose this “Dream Team”..this starter needs to be re-evaluated.

Dave didn’t choose the team. I did — with input from past players and coaches. Most considered Burtschi a no-brianer.
