20 Minutes to Tip

I’m here at Clune Arena watching Colorado State and Air Force warm up.

Do the Falcons finally get one? This clearly is their best chance in their final four regular season games.

I think the key is Air Force getting off to a good start – in both halves – and getting a contribution from someone other than the seniors.

Had some computer trouble, so I didn’t post my preview. For what it’s worth, you can find it and my 3 Things to Watch here.

Jeff Reynolds should go. A.J. Kuhle should return. I know the Falcons don’t have the same talent this year as in past years; however, there are coaching problems. First, free throws are more mental than anything else. And, that’s something that can be solved by the coaches making it a priority in practice and as additional individual player work as necessary. But there’s a much larger problem. The offense always looks tentative. Players constantly pass up shots to make another low utility perimeter pass. Where’s the confidence?…coaching. When there’s only a few minutes left in the game and AFA still has a chance in the game, why do the Falcons wait to put on the full court press until it’s essentially too late?…coaching Creating turnovers has been a hallmark of AFA basketball! Our players should be able to outlast opponents at Klune. They should be able to out hustle their opponents…coaching. When the Falcons were down only a few points with 2 minutes remaining in the game, why were they standing still not challenging Wyoming and allowing them to spend clock time?…coaching!

We need some fire from our head coach. We need spirit. We need imagination. We need a good game coach. We need A.J. Kuhle!
